“I originally was seeking support for my chronic suicidality in a way that wasn’t bogged down by the usual medical system’s stigma. Even with therapists who aren’t scared of the ‘s’ word, there is always a risk to talk about this. This brings me to Laurel who I’ve been incredibly grateful to work with regarding my deathsong and now on to shadow work. Our sessions are filed with an abundance of joy, laughter, as well as space to feel all the messy contradictions a human being can hold. Laurel is so patient, kind, and every session is a fulfilling conversation with a kindred MAD spirit. If therapy has not worked for you in the past and you are looking for alternatives, I 100% recommend working with Laurel. The insights you’ll encounter are invaluable not to mention the encouragement you’ll get to strive towards a world you want to see actualized :)”

“Coaching with Laurel allowed me to connect to the true nature of my brain and my experience of identity within ‘mental illness,’ as someone who needed to understand the mystical nature of my mind. I feel forever thankful for working with this genius woman, who is being immensely brave in her perspectives on psychotic mental illness – or mental ability to tap into more levels of reality. She is creating community through her group sessions, media offerings, and writing, and through the coaching, she provided a warm yet profound dive into the topic, on a personal level. Laurel’s breadth of mental framework feels scientifically calibrated, to leave abundant space for all aspects of elevating our senses of self, as people who have been cast out of capitalist structures due to our natural brains. She is tapping into levels of awareness that are both decades ahead of our time, but also profoundly and urgently needed immediately to alchemize how people see us, as people with these highly divergent and persistently marginalized brains.”

“Laurel offers such a welcoming and grounding presence, which in itself is so healing. I felt instantly comfortable going into challenging topics, and left feeling lighter and more curious. I highly recommend working with her!”

“My life is calmer and more grounded because of the way Laurel has helped me make sense of my own feelings. I always leave time with her feeling safer because I know there is a place for people like me (neurodivergent, suicidal, chronically ill) in the world. She creates an oasis for neurodiverse people to live our truths and build meaningful community with each other.”

“My desire for community got me to Catharsis, aside from wanting to support Laurel - she's such a magnetic & safe soul. I mean, how many places can I go to in Jamaica (a country that glorifies negativity, oppression & frowns upon talking about mental health) to feel this supported in how I think and feel on my spiritual journey? *Crickets* This safe space cultivated so much support in these short sessions, I wish I could go more often and definitely plan to! If you are in need of a great community that sees YOU for YOU, no judgment, no questions asked - Catharsis is just that and more. I feel its not likely we get to talk about the topics covered in the meetings, so it feels like they're not long enough to cover everything we feel because we don't realize how much we want or need to talk about something, until we start talking about it, with people who get it. I'd recommend to any Jamaican seeking answers, Jamaicans who know they are different and feel they're different, Jamaicans who don't really resonate with the "Jamaican mentality" and just want to be heard. Even if you don't want to speak, you won't regret being in a space that energetically boosts you up like Supligen (the old big tin version).”
